What Types Of Engineers Are There?

There are several types of engineering careers. But when it comes to the application of pressure and temperature measurement, engineering can be divided into three main categories – aerospace, defense, and industrial engineering.   • Electrical Engineers focus on designing and testing products. They also perform other engineering functions associated with CCS’ pressure and temperature sensors. Some of these devices include pressure transducers, transmitters, and resistance thermal detectors (RTDs) for temperature sensing applications.
  • Project Engineers manage engineering projects. They work with stakeholders at all levels to determine budgets, personnel, and project planning in an efficient timeframe. Project Engineers are also tasked with identifying project requirements, such as equipment and new or modified expansions of an existing facility. 
  • Mechanical Engineers fulfill a number of designing, testing, and engineering duties for CCS’ pressure and temperature measurement products. They mainly address sensors or switches with Dual-Snap® disc spring technology and other devices with moving parts.
  • Test Engineers set up and carry out engineering, research, development, and environmental tests on products that follow MIL-STD-810 or RTCA/DO 160 standards.
  • Quality Control Engineers use strong problem-solving skills to perform root cause analysis (RCA). According to the American Society for Quality, RCA can be defined as a collective term that describes a wide range of approaches, tools, and techniques used to uncover causes of problems. A Quality Control Engineer also performs quality tasks like:
    • Non-conforming hardware disposition 
    • Supplied part problem resolution
    • Quality system audits
    • Product evaluations
    • Process monitoring
    • Data analysis
  • Engineering Lab Technicians assist engineers in performing complex electro-mechanical tasks. Another important part of their day-to-day role is assembling and testing electro-mechanical subassemblies for prototype builds. They often use schematics (or diagrams) to complete these models.
  • Designer Engineers study, review, and develop ideas for new products and the systems that are used to make them. They may change existing products or processes to increase efficiency or improve performance. To be a design engineer, you must be technically skilled in CAD software, machine design, manufacturing processes, and thermodynamics.
  • Tool Design Engineers can either create new tools or make improvements to existing equipment. They are responsible for drawing up blueprints and schematics, consulting with engineers or manufacturers about specifications, and design production.
