Power generation system and plant technologies are moving beyond today’s typical combined cycle designs to wind and other renewable or environmentally friendly concepts including waste-to-energy processes. Turbines are important in power generation; man-portable mobile plants to hundred-ton complex power plants housed in block-sized buildings. Turbines, both gas and steam powered, being larger and more heavily constructed than other types or turbines, require reliable air, pressure, fuel and lubrication management systems. Wind turbines also require lubrication systems. Sensors and switches in turbines are critical for reporting and maintaining nominal pressures within these systems.

The fuel inlet system is where pressure sensors and switches play a critical role. For proper and complete combustion, the fuel entering the combustor must do so at the correct pressure. CCS’s shock resistant, high life cycle pressure switches are useful here, monitoring for dips and increases in pressure to ensure proper and consistent operation. Differential pressure switches and sensors monitor airflow and alerting when a drop in pressure of the air entering the turbine could be a fully loaded filter. Switches and sensors monitor temperatures in boilers, HRSG, turbine exhaust and coolant.

60 Years of Innovation

Custom Control Sensors, LLC (CCS) has been a global leader in the design, testing, manufacturing and supply of standard and custom pressure, temperature and flow switches and sensors for the Aerospace, Defense, Industrial and Energy markets since 1958. CCS switches are highly reliable devices that utilize a “DUAL-SNAP” action disc spring principle pioneered by Custom Control Sensors over 50 years ago.
